A lot has been written about this band - much of it wrong. But what remains?
Eight musicians who have come together again to counter the creeping decline of live music away from major events and stadium shows. In doing so, they use everything the small orchestra has at its disposal - in their usual multi-layered and detailed manner: On dozens of instruments, they stagger on in their search for pop
between indie, folk, world music, brass splendor and percussion thunderstorms. The result is melancholy turned into music, whose deconstruction gives rise to danceable euphoria.
Meaningful and naive, great art with a wry grin, music for headphones - only live. Anything more would be too much. What remains is the feeling that it's good that the Bertholinis are back - or still here. With new songs. And the old magic.
With these words and the new EP "The Eye of the Beholder" (release: 10/2025), The Great Bertholinis are back - after it was unclear for a long time whether there would be a reunion on the live stages at all.
20 years after the first release ("Objects travel in more than one direction"), the new EP offers nothing less than the musical essence of two decades of band history.
