Inline skating at the Aumühle

If you want to cover a few relaxed kilometers on your inline skates again, head to the south of Munich! Or more precisely to the Aumühle in the Isar valley. Not only can you enjoy a delicious fish sandwich with smoked fish from our own farm, but you can also skate around seven kilometers on a well-paved road with hardly any traffic.

It takes around half an hour to get there by car from Munich. If you arrive by S-Bahn, you can travel to Wolfratshausen and join the circular trail at the Puppling hiking parking lot (approx. 15 minutes away inline). At the Aumühle, you can also pick up some smoked fish such as char and enjoy your trip to the beautiful Isar valley at home.

And if you don't have any inline skates in the cellar, it's also worth taking a bike ride out to the Aumühle, which will take you around 1.5-2 hours from Munich.

Hike up the Perlacher Mugl

No, this is not about "muggles" and we are not sending you to the Forbidden Forest, but to Perlacher Forst. So you can leave your wand at home, pack a snack instead and set off. By public transport, you can either travel to Mangfallplatz (U1), to Theodolindenplatz on streetcar 25 or take the S-Bahn to Fasanenpark.

No matter what you choose, you can approach the Perlacher Mugl from different directions. The hill towers a proud 26 meters above the rest of Perlacher Forst. Once you reach the top, it's not only time for a short break, but you can also enjoy a wonderful mountain panorama in good weather and with a clear view. The great thing about a trip to Perlacher Forst is that you can decide for yourself how long you want to spend on the trail. Either just up the Mugl and back down and out again. Or you can walk further and make a big loop out of it. Anything goes, nothing has to.

Watching animals in Poing Wildlife Park

If you want to take a walk through the forest and discover animals, you could stop by Poing Wildlife Park. On a 4-kilometer forest and meadow trail, you will pass various animals. Deer, sheep, goats and ponies can roam freely here and can even be fed and stroked. Other animals, such as bears, can be observed from a distance, which is probably wiser.

You can also combine your trip to the wildlife park with a picnic, as you can take food and drink with you. And if you don't have anything with you: there is also a kiosk with refreshing drinks waiting for you at the end of the hiking trail.

Incidentally, you can get to Poing Wildlife Park not only by car, but also by S-Bahn. Simply take the S2 in the direction of Markt Schwaben / Erding and get off at Poing. From there, it's a 20-minute walk to the wildlife park.

Travel back in time at the Münter House

You may have already come across the "Blauer Reiter", a group of artists led by Wassily Kandinsky, Franz Marc and Gabriele Münter, at the Lenbachhaus. If you would like to find out more about this collective and, above all, about the lives of Wassily Kandinsky and Gabriele Münter, it is worth taking a trip to Murnau. The house where they both lived for several years is open to visitors. At the end of the 1990s, the Münter House was renovated and restored to its original state from 1909 to 1914. That's why it's not just great to discover art here. Rather, the entire house is like a little journey back to times long past.

Incidentally, the house also has a magnificent garden, which Kandinsky is said to have designed himself. It is a real feast for the eyes and a paradise for bees, especially in summer.

It takes a good hour by car to get to the Münter Haus. And if you are traveling by public transport, you can simply take the train to Murnau.

Take a walk in the world forest

Flying to the redwoods in the Sierra Nevada is still a long way off, despite the vaccine. What is not so far away, however, is the World Forest near Freising. On an area of around 100 hectares in the Kranzberg Forest, you can discover a collection of trees from North America, Asia and Europe. Follow the themed trails, which sometimes lead you along footpaths into the heart of the forest and immerse yourself in the flora and fauna. There are several information pavilions where you can learn interesting facts and there is also art on the side. The full program for which you don't even have to get on a plane.

The Weltwald can of course be reached by car, but also by public transport. Take the MVV bus line 619 and get off at the "Ampertshausen" stop. From there, it is just 200 m to the first information pavilion of the world forest. The visit is free of charge.
