The Library Theme Day on 24 October marks the finale of the "150 Years of the HGB Library" anniversary program: students present interactive and creative works, visitors can try out VR/computer games from the collection live and take part in exhibition and library tours. Teachers of book art/graphic design invite you to a "buffet of a thousand leaves" and look forward to an exchange between students, teachers and visitors. We will end the day musically with a live performance by LUKI LOOP.

Fantasies of the Library
The HGB library served as a working material, thinking space and presentation venue for the typography course "Fantasies of the Library" with Teresa Rudolf in the summer semester 2024. On display are book recommendations as posters and Ex Libris stamps, which emerged from the examination of the library holdings.

Re*mapping Leipzig
Re*mapping Leipzig is an app that artistically conveys the past and present of Leipzig's women's movements and makes both forgotten histories and current conflicts visible in the urban space. HGB teachers and alumni were involved in the development of the app. The Re*mapping pop-up structure is complemented by a selection of media curated by the library.

The 3DXR (3D and Extended Reality) area of the Audiovisual Workshop presents contemporary VR/computer games and graphic applications to try out and experience.

In 2016, the HGB received the library of Frank Wagner's estate. The presentation by Christin Lahr, artist and professor of media art at the HGB, introduces the work of the internationally renowned curator and offers the opportunity to familiarize oneself with his books.

MACHT GESCHENKE: DAS KAPITAL confronts the prevailing political economy and meaningless bureaucratism with the gesture of gift-giving and DONATION. On the occasion of its 150th anniversary, the HGB library receives signed transfer no. 05626 dated 24.10.2024.

The artist exhibits a live-generated visual system that animates and rearranges the terms from the HGB library classification. Laila Kamil studies in the class for installation and space.

Musical finale with LUKI LOOP
LUKI LOOP from Leipzig fuses the sounds of Neue Deutsche Welle with a performance reminiscent of the androgyny of the 80s. The powerful stage presence and radically queer visibility take center stage. Personal experiences and socially critical themes flow into the songs and invite you to experience a new, queer dimension of Neue Deutsche Welle.

Heidi Specker: library en core
Heidi Specker, artist and professor of photography at the HGB, explores the library as a cultural space for negotiation in a showcase exhibition. Feuilleton and social media are currently referring to this context again with the fashion trend "librariancore".
Instead, "On display - library history(s) since 1874" will be on show for the last time on 24.10. in the reading corridor.
