2. NDW Festival "Times Change"

In the organizer's words:

We are pleased to present our 2nd Neue Deutsche Welle Festival in Frankfurt at!!!!

Three great bands:

METZGERBUTCHER (Bonn)
VERNUKKT (Bonn)
THE FULL LOVE EXPERIMENT (Frankfurt am Main)

will be playing their current electro-indie-post-punk-pop-rock sound with exciting and intelligent German lyrics in the "here & now" at the Ponyhof. Intense musical reflections on dramatically changing times are the credo of the evening. All bands that have used the isolation of the pandemic to create something new. To find answers to a turning point that could not have been foreseen.

METZGERBUTCHER

After the end of their punk rock trio Wantu & The srie 4's, founded in 1991, in spring 2020, Larry Butcher and Hans W. Metzger wanted to start again - with similar musical aspirations, an electronic rhythm machine and a new name.
In the first two years of their existence, MetzgerButcher released two digital singles and the two EPs "2020 presents..." and "Kultur". The duo's debut album was released on June 2, 2023 and is called "Zwei vor Zwölf".

VERNUKKT:

'24 I'd love a caffè latte. You too? Bonn-based indie pop band vernukkt (formerly twentyseven.) have been strolling around the fair of emotions since mid-2022. And they stop at every (drinks) stand there. A touch of tulle and New German Wave adorns the up-and-coming triad around lead singer and part-time cuddle bear Nuk, who always manages to motivate the audience to have fun with a mixture of lascivious dance interludes and elegiac sing-along anthems. And he's not alone! Years of eating crumble bread and Printen are definitely the reason (like pollen for allergy sufferers (sorry)) that the delicate sweetie Dave charms us all on the drums. Paired with groove general Tom, the personification of a bouncing French roll, the rhythm section resembles a well-run bakery. Where does all this reference to baked goods come from? The author of the text is craving pastries at this very moment! So take every chance you can to take out the stress with vernukkt and bring love into the world <

Founded in 2019, the self-composed songs are based on the post-punk and synth-pop of the 80s - but also on the current electronic beat with mainly German lyrics. Loud psych guitars meet melodic arpeggios and driving beats paired with poppy choruses. But herbaceous excursions are also welcome. Somewhere between Bollock Brothers, Fehlfarben, Soft Cell, Iggy Pop and Thom Yorke.
Thoughtful, lyrical lyrics meet clear critical statements, always in the "here and now" and in the "lust for life". They take a stand without pointing a finger. Sometimes bilingual, as is best for the music. Everything is allowed as long as it touches and drives. Psychedelic excursions are not an oversight but an integral part of their idea of music. They released their 1st studio album in November 2023. Produced by Andi Wilda.
