Since 2003, the Filmfest Düsseldorf has been organized by an annually changing team of students of media and cultural studies at Heinrich Heine University. It is now one of the largest and best-known short film festivals in Germany.
Four prizes are awarded each year: The audience votes on both the most popular film under 15 minutes in length and the most popular film over 15 minutes in length. In addition, a jury of experts selects another prize winner. The audience prizes are each endowed with 750€ and the jury prize with 1000€. In addition, we had the opportunity to award a team prize of 500€ in the last years through a cooperation with the BürgerStiftung Düsseldorf.
