In the organizer's words:
Short films are entertaining and moving in their own special way and are in no way inferior to major film productions. This versatility has prompted students of media and cultural studies from Düsseldorf to launch a short film competition. Our aim is to give ambitious, up-and-coming filmmakers the opportunity to present their passion and talent to a wide audience and at the same time promote intercultural exchange. This endeavor has continued uninterrupted for over 20 years since its premiere.
