24 Hebel für die Welt

24 Hebel für die Welt

In the organizer's words:

A mixed-abled music theater, created with the "Aesthetics of Access "* method.

Developed from the material of "Winterreise" from 1827.
Composition: Franz Schubert; original text: Wilhelm Müller
Parts of the original text were translated into plain language for the performance.

A production by Un-Label

The songs from Schubert's song cycle "Winterreise" deal with the feeling of being alone in the world, with existential insecurity and isolation, with eternal searching. In the interplay between despair in the text and consolation through beauty in the music, something deeply emotional and human is revealed. A polyphonic ensemble of people with different backgrounds, imprints and worlds of experience seeks access to a music that can bring together, exclude and enchant in equal measure.

The performers transform the stage into a laboratory, experimenting with perceptual perspectives such as "hearing" and "language" and incorporating these into the creative process. Different ways of reading and experiencing the play come together, collide and complement each other - the result is an unfinished collage that can be experienced aesthetically in different ways by a diverse audience. Nothing is as it was. The accessibility of Schubert's music itself is put to the test, as is classical singing.

It is possible that a small stage community will form on this evening, while the performers share their individual stories, observations, disappointments and hopes with the audience - a polyphonic "we". Perhaps even an accidentally formed band.

*"Aesthetics of Access" refers to the process of artistically integrating means of accessibility (audio description, plain language, etc.) into the artwork. This enables new aesthetic experiences and access to the work for people with and without disabilities.
