The evening

The concert gives - despite or perhaps especially in these turbulent times - the courage for utopia! How can we dream again? What does our day after tomorrow sound like? What do our hearts beat for? The world premiere of the third "Social Symphony", which is the highlight of the TONALi Festival 2026 in the Elbphilharmonie, deals with these questions.

In five movements, the third "Social Symphony" reveals answers full of mysterious security, courageous surprises and original imagination: musicians and audience experience an unforgettable concert in which music, space and all participants resonate with each other. What happens on stage begins weeks earlier in the city: Hamburg residents meet in numerous small encounters in a slow-dating format - from I to you to we!

The "Social Symphony" is curated by Franziska Ritter and Christian Siegmund (1:1 Concerts). Together with the ensemble asambura, the academists of the TONALi Stage Academy, young people from the TONALi Audience Academy and artists from the city, they will explore how many small moments of togetherness can give rise to a great common togetherness - a social symphony. During the concert, the prestigious TONALi Award "Courage for Utopia" 2026 will be presented for the sixth time, handing over the baton for the curation of the fourth "Social Symphony" in 2027. This year's winner is musician, cultural manager and co-founder of the Liedstadt Festival Kian Jazdi.
