Ildiko
German rap isn’t just getting a new hairstyle and fresh features—it’s getting a radical facelift. ildikó is on the scene, serving up tracks DIY-style: sometimes soulful, with her heart on her sleeve and a drum ’n’ bass beat under her feet, like on “will dich wieder fühlen”. But then she’s also totally fed up with patriarchy and leering cis men in the pedestrian zone, as in “Guck mich nich an.” Here, hardcore hip-hop meets the flows of this Stuttgart native, who sends a very personal take on modern German rap out into the world from the hills of her hometown. Conventional beat structures are shattered like pretzel sticks, custom-made trap and boom bap are layered on, and lyrical bells are scattered in double time. Ildikó first demonstrates that she’s currently in the zone with the brutal “Mach Platz” EP in May, and barely two months later, she does it all over again with the EP “Dropout” (2025), on which she celebrates not only rap but also classic Americana rock and crossover tracks with the raw energy of “Drop In, Drop Out.” The DIY producer clearly has no intention of limiting herself, which can only be an advantage for her future career. Ildikó is already making her mark on the female-dominated German rap scene.

Egoexpress
Egoexpress never asked to fit in—they just showed up, turned it up, and let the dance floor decide. This is your invitation to the best party around. Focusing on the body and following their instincts, the Hamburg duo Mense Reents and Berndt “Jimi” Siebels crafted direct and danceable house hits that offered a vibrant counterpoint to the cerebral cool of their contemporaries. Emerging from the punk and rock scene and ultimately bringing a stubborn sense of self and infectious humor into the club, Egoexpress forged their own unconventional path through Germany’s electronic underground over the course of their ten-year career.
