Under the title BAR, the 32nd annual exhibition in Leipzig brings together artists of all ages and levels of recognition from the fields of painting, photography, graphic art, installation, sculpture and media art. The focus is on contemporary art and current art trends and on the unifying element of art encounters. It is part of the association's self-image that art should not be regarded as an elitist cultural asset. Rather, art should be able to take effect in society with its complex structures. To this end, the association organizes its annual art show, which is open to everyone with Free admission for three weeks. The exhibition invites all visitors to engage with different perspectives and remain in conversation, just like at a bar in the best sense of the word.

The Leipzig annual exhibition prize of €10,000 - donated by Sparkasse Leipzig, the Elke and Thomas Loest Foundation and the Doris Günther Foundation - is dedicated to Erich Loest (1926-2013) as its namesake against the backdrop of his 100th birthday this year.

A jury of experts independent of the association, consisting of Prof. Hans-Hendrik Grimmling (last prize winner), Prof. Katharina Immekus, Annegret Richter, Dr. Conny Dietrich and Dr. Julia Dünkel, will select one of the 34 artistic contributions from the exhibition for the Leipzig Annual Exhibition Prize on the opening day.

The 32nd Leipzig Annual Exhibition will take place from June 18 to July 11, 2026 in the Werkschauhalle on the grounds of the Leipzig cotton mill and is under the patronage of Lord Mayor Burghard Jung.

The exhibition will be officially opened on June 18 at 8 p.m. with the announcement of the prize winner.

A catalog will be published to accompany the exhibition.
