The Heartbeat practice of the 5Rhythms® according to Gabrielle Roth is a meditative journey through movement that explores the five fundamental emotions:

        Fear protects.
        Anger sets boundaries.
   Sadness lets go.
Joy connects.
      Compassion unites.

Emotions are the colors of our lives. They give our humanity depth, vitality, and meaning.
In the Heartbeat practice, we encounter them not as something we need to control or analyze, but as living energy that moves through our bodies and seeks expression.

We invite emotions to reveal themselves with openness, curiosity, and loving attention. When we allow them to come into motion, the body can relax, the heart can expand, and a deeper experience can emerge. What may have been hidden before becomes palpable. New meanings can unfold.

Every emotion carries its own wisdom. It is a source of life force and conveys messages from our heart. As energy in motion, it leads us into a deeper relationship with ourselves, with others, and with life.

When emotional energy is allowed to flow from within us to every cell of our body, we discover not only the freedom to express it, but also the ability to meet it with mindfulness and presence. From this place of presence, our heart opens of its own accord to compassion, connection, and loving relationships.
