We ask for your understanding 5TH AVENUE Many attributes unite the band 5th Avenue on itself: "cult band", "best Hamburg live band", "Wacken pioneers"... But what remains in the end is the music. Rock from the Waterkant - authentic, straightforward, honest is what the Hanseatics stand for.Because as with hardly any other rock band, this comes much later than one would normally expect in the industry: quite a few Wacken appearances, international tours and the attribute of possessing cult status, 5th Avenue have already achieved.5th Avenue played in 1990 as one of the first bands at the first Wacken Openair, the now largest metal festival in the world. Also in the following years they were again and again part of the North German big event. Thus they manage to sell out the KNUST within 15 minutes - something not even R.E.M. managed! Beyond the borders of the Hanseatic city, the sextet has already been on tour worldwide with LITTLE RIVER BAND, PLAN B., SAXON, MAMAs BOYS and D.A.D.. In 1994 and 1995, 5TH AVENUE was voted Hamburg's most popular act by the readers of Hamburg's major daily newspaper "Morgenpost", leaving established artists such as Blumfeld and Marius-Müller Westernhagen behind. In 1994, the group landed a major deal with Polydor, and with it an album recording in the U.S. at the legendary Goodnight LA Studios under the direction of Roger Summers (RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, DON HENLEY). However, the CD was not released - only a first single "Luka" was released, which immediately made it into numerous radio listening charts. Then, however, the surprising thing: the band officially broke up in 1996. Only in 2014, for their 25th anniversary, the musicians returned to play - where else - an anniversary show in Wacken, as well as at several other large open airs and the Harley Days. Metal Hammer subsequently named them one of the best Wacken acts. Together with the gigs, the EP with the fitting title "It s Been A Long Way" was released, the video single of which stormed to #1 in the myvideo charts.In 2015, the band was given the honor of being the HOOTERS' support on personal invitation.Another year later, the time has finally come: 5th Avenue release the album "Last Greetings From The Petting Zoo" 27 years after the band's formation! Produced by Eike Freese and Alex Dietz (among others DEEP PURPLE, GAMMA RAY, HEAVEN SHALL BURN), these 12 unmistakable rock anthems are a big exclamation mark and proof that it's never too late to take off! Many more festival appearances in Europe followed, including the much acclaimed performance at the 2022 Wacken Open Air, which prompted founder Holger Hübner to call the band "legends". the new longplayer is now to be tackled, again under the direction of Eike Freese and with many guests and friends from 34 years of Hamburg rock history.
