Hollywood meets European drama! Erich Wolfgang Korngold, the Oscar-winning Hollywood composer, combines film glamor with German-Austrian romanticism in his famous violin concerto. Two other gripping symphonies will also be played, which tell directly of the political upheavals of 1938: Elsa Barraine's "War Symphony" and Shostakovich's monumental 5th Symphony.#
