9. UKE Benefizlauf

In the organizer's words:

Under the motto "Around the world in 80 days for the children in the intensive care unit", the 9th UKE charity run is a sporting challenge for all sports enthusiasts who want to run, cycle or swim for a good cause.

The big run finale with a family party will take place on July 13 in Eppendorf Park. Together we will run the final kilometers to increase the amount of donations for the intensive care unit at the Kinder-UKE. Many prominent supporters will be taking part. There will be a raffle and a colorful children's program.

The proceeds from the charity run will go to the intensive care unit at Kinder-UKE. Critically ill babies and children with life-threatening illnesses have access to the same intensive care methods as adults. The possibilities extend to organ replacement procedures, for example when lung failure has to be bridged by ECMO (extracorporeal membrane oxygenation).
Such a hospital stay can last 80 days or longer - a major challenge for the highly specialized team in the paediatric intensive care unit and an even greater burden for the parents.

Running, cycling or swimming and donating €1 for every kilometer you cover will help to further improve the situation of the young patients and their parents. So that even seriously ill children and their families can recover, play and run again.
