Zhanna Agalakova is a well-known journalist for a pro-Kremlin TV station and proud of her country. She wants to pass this conviction on to her westernized daughter. But Agalakova's world view is increasingly shaken - also triggered by her daughter's own critical questions and the political developments in the country. On a joint journey through Putin's Russia, ideologies, values and generations collide. As her journalistic freedom dwindles and the war of aggression draws closer, Agalakova realizes that she herself is part of the Russian propaganda machine.
