La compañía de variedades de Carmela y Paulino, que recorre España en una tartana, atraviesa, por error, la línea que separa a los dos bandos durante la última guerra civil española. Inesperadamente, se encuentran entre las tropas nacionales que acaban de tomar la villa de Belchite. Una vez allí, se verán empujados a improvisar una función teatral, en honor de las tropas vencedoras, que terminará de forma inesperada.

The vaudeville company of Carmela and Paulino, traveling through Spain in a cart, accidentally crosses the border that separated the hostile regions of the last Spanish civil war. Unexpectedly, they encounter the national troops who have just taken the town of Belchite. There they are forced to improvise a theatrical performance in honor of the victorious troops, which ends unexpectedly.
