At the end of the "Latcho Dives" festival, Romano Sumnal e. V. and WERK 2 invite you to an afternoon and evening together.
Under the title "Amencar - With us. Open Day: Roma and Sinti in Saxony" , the event will provide insights into the past and present of Sinti and Roma in Saxony. Art, photography, film and literature will reveal perspectives that are often given too little space in public discourse. Visitors are invited to engage with the content, enter into conversation and actively experience individual program items.
Among other things, photographic works, film contributions and staged readings will be shown. The program will be complemented by hands-on activities and contributions from children and youth work.
The performance follows in the evening:
Luna de Rosa: Cosa Vuol Dire Essere Rom*nja?! (What Does It Mean to Be Romnja?!)
Luna de Rosa reflects on the conditions under which the lives of Rom*nja take place: The long history of erasure, imposed representation and institutional frameworks. In response, she brings to light stories that have been silenced or fragmented. She translates these stories into movement, voice and ritual action. The body becomes both a site of memory and a medium of transmission, holding the tensions between control and liberation.
The event will conclude with a DJ set by DJane Valentina with Manele, Serbian brass music and túrbo folk.
The event sees itself as an open festival day that provides insights, promotes exchange and brings together different perspectives.
The project is supported by the City of Leipzig - Department for Democracy and Social Cohesion.
