Belarusian accordionist Yegor Zabelov is considered an exceptional talent in modern accordion playing. Always exploring the possibilities of his instrument, he surprises his listeners with cascades of overwhelming soundscapes that oscillate between experimental, avant-garde, minimalism, jazz, ambient, post-rave, and neoclassicism—and defy categorization. His rousing, powerful playing evokes associations with an organ or even an entire orchestra, for Zabelov views the accordion not as a traditional instrument, but as a universal sound generator. The accordion becomes a living, breathing sound body, and every concert a physical and sonic ritual.
