Mothering The Tongue is a lecture performance in which Adam Linder reflects on the practice of "free dance" and the layers of embodied experience. In a spontaneous response to theoretical, cultural, and personal text fragments, as well as music ranging from Bach to Sinéad O'Connor, Linder exposes all elements of his choreographic writing in real time. In contrast to his pieces developed for theaters or exhibition spaces, which are often elaborately staged, Mothering The Tongue is an extremely reduced scenario. Here, Linder allows the audience to enter his mental workspace, which provides him with the ideal breeding ground for the most exciting and honest movements to emerge.
