A writing/drawing workshop with the artist Christina Schultz in conjunction with women from Stadelheim Prison
REGISTRATION: oe_werkstatt@kjr-m.de
for everyone | free of charge | participation on one date only is possible
This workshop with artist Christina Schultz is about stories - and about creating connections. By writing transversal letters together, an exchange is created between the participants at the Färberei and women who are currently in custody at Stadelheim Prison. The participants do not meet in person, but instead touch each other through fictional letters and visual poems, thus overcoming spatial and situational boundaries.
Christina Schultz accompanies the workshops alternately at both locations, starting in the prison. She brings the resulting texts and works to the next appointment at the other location - as a response, continuation or new impulse. It is up to you whether you react to them, leave your own traces or create new connections. Writing, drawing or other forms of expression are equally welcome. Christina will provide a safe environment and support you according to your individual needs.
The workshop invites you to experiment together and individually. The letter format serves as a tool for self-reflection and dialog - and as an opportunity to explore safe spaces. A letter does not only have to consist of words: Drawings or other artistic forms of expression can also be part of it. The fictional "I" in the letter or poem can also be freely chosen - perhaps a door, a smell or the sea. No previous writing experience is necessary. Anyone who wants to explore questions of privacy and security artistically and become part of a special, cross-border project is invited to take part.
Incidentally,Aixopluc is Catalan and means refuge, shelter, protection or shelter.
Christina Schultz is a transdisciplinary artist, oral performer and linguistic nomad. Born in Munich in 1972, she has lived in Barcelona for over 20 years. She is currently a guest artist-in-residence at Villa Waldberta in cooperation with the Köşk.
The AIXOPLUC workshop is part of the project Walls of Breath - from inside out, which Christina Schultz initiated in 2023 with poetry workshops in the women's prison Wad Ras in Barcelona. This has developed into an ongoing, international letter-writing process - a joint artistic research into intimacy and safe spaces with women in prison. Further information on the project can be found on the artist's website.
