Critics have described him as an angel, a swamp monster and a red-eyed demon. In "An Evening With", the Vienna-based singer and performance artist Alex Franz Zehetbauer transforms the classical concert format of the singer at the piano and liberates it from the codes of the recital. He traverses moods and pitches from poetic lullabies to folk songs and pop songs and explores the diverse roles of songs and their cultural meanings. A magic emanates from this performance that sometimes slips into the absurd. Welcome to "An Evening With" Alex Franz Zehetbauer!
Born in Brooklyn in 1990, the sound choreographer, performance artist and singer currently lives and works in Vienna. Alex has collaborated with artists such as Phillip Gehmacher, Jen Rosenblit, Taylor Mac and Alix Eynaudi and tours internationally with his work. As part of the "Songs of Rising and Singking" series, he is composing a piece for Schwankcore, which will be premiered on Sat 15.6. in the Schwankhalle.
