Artificial intelligence is not only changing markets and technologies, but also state power structures. From automated administrative decisions to data-based security control: algorithmic systems are increasingly intervening in political processes.
In the first short talk in the series "Democracy between freedom and algorithms", Genia Kostka talks to Katja Weber about the consequences of this development for liberal democracies. While authoritarian systems use AI specifically to stabilize themselves, democratic societies are struggling with questions of transparency, accountability and legitimacy.
Are we facing a new phase of algorithmic governance? Or does AI also open up opportunities for more efficient and fairer political governance?
A discussion about power, control and the future of democratic order.
