Alien Puzzle: Takako Minekawa + Martin Brugger
In the organizer's words:
Alien Puzzle presents:
Takako Minekawa (嶺川貴子) + Martin Brugger (Squama)
We are very happy to present Takako Minekawa, one of Japan’s most fascinating musicians, live. She began her career in the 2000s as a J-pop icon, went on to gain international recognition for her innovative, electronic indie pop, and has become increasingly experimental over the years—yet no less accessible or moving.
Takako Minekawa:
“I’m very excited to perform in Munich for the first time. The show will focus on tracks from the album *traces of the ceiling *. This album grew out of an experiment I began in 2018 after I acquired a glass tube and combined it with microphones and instruments.
At the time, I was staying in Los Angeles for an extended period; amid the glaring sunlight and the striking landscapes, I found myself drawn every day to things that held a quiet beauty within them—traces on the ceilings of old buildings, blinds that moved as if they were breathing, or even trash on the side of the road (they almost seemed to speak to me).
When I inserted a microphone into the glass tube to create feedback, the resulting sounds began to feel like the “voices” of these beautiful things. To this day, my goal is to embody the sounds of such beings with my own body and words and to breathe life into them."

Martin Brugger:
Martin Brugger is a musician, producer, and co-founder of the music label Squama. His second solo album, *The Shell*, was released this year. His music moves between ambient and lo-fi folk. The central element of the album is the acoustic guitar, which moves with an almost childlike simplicity, curiously and tentatively. Field recordings and samples add depth to the musical narrative, while the melodies—with a flair for pop harmonies—confidently steer clear of kitsch.
