At its core, "All Our Demons" deals with the question of what can be done to heal the wounds of the past and open up a path to the future. The content is gripping, but above all the film is a technical triumph.
ROSA is a young, ambitious woman who has the best chances of advancement in her job. Between work and the gym, however, she has little time for a fulfilling private life - apart from some quality time with her cat. When Rosa learns that her grandfather MARCELINO - her only remaining family member - has died, she smashes her computer in anger and grief. Rosa hasn't seen or spoken to her grandfather for years. She decides to take some time out, leave her hyper-modern city apartment and travel to her grandfather's country house, where she grew up. Rosa actually wants to sell the property she has just inherited in the remote Vale de Sarronco, but once she arrives in the unspoiled countryside, childhood memories come flooding back. In her dreams, she is haunted by the eerie clay figures of her grandfather, grotesque images of himself and his fellow human beings that appear like demons from another world. However, the effects of Marcelino's deeds are not only felt in Rosa's dreams, as everyone in Vale de Sarronco gives her the cold shoulder. But just when Rosa is tired of the villagers' hostility and wants to leave the village again, the six-year-old neighbor boy CHICO asks her to help his mother LAURA. Despite all the adversity, Rosa befriends the lovely Laura, who explains to her what the 'curse of the Vale de Sarronco' is all about: When Marcelino's wife drowned in the river, the water dried up everywhere except on Marcelino's property. The villagers have therefore believed ever since that Marcelino and his strange behavior are the cause of the evil. Rosa, however, has received letters and clues from her grandfather that explain what really happened back then. Determined, she takes on the difficult challenge of confronting her grandfather's demons and bringing the water back to the inhabitants of Vale de Sarronco.
