A romcom by Bonn Park and Ben Roessler
Under the sea. We find ourselves in the last big city at the bottom of the sea. Here, sea people live peacefully together with sea fish and seafood. But the once bubbling empire is now underwater. Where once prosperity for all was touted, there are now obvious cracks. The downfall of civilization is imminent, but the mermaids want no part of it. They all go about their business as diligently as ever. They cut back the proliferating algae, scrape the shells off the walls and try to make the starfish shine again. After all, today is the new prime minister's first day in office and the empress of a foreign empire has announced her arrival. But then love gets in the way. Negotiating partners come to a standstill, old friends see each other in a new light, Mum and Dad have to talk things out, Mermaid gets pregnant. And suddenly everything else becomes secondary. Love actually is all around.
After the cult success of their high school opera "Gymnasium", Bonn Park and Ben Roessler go musically under the water for their second production at the Volkstheater to sing the praises of a romantic comedy.
