Jazz has become a symbol of artistic freedom. Musical improvisation is one of its trademarks, as is the merging and blending of different musical cultures. This evening will take you on a journey through time, from the beginnings of jazz, using shellac records and film clips, to the myths and facts during the Nazi era, jazz as degenerate music. Listen to the music of the so-called "Ghetto Swingers" and find out to what extent jazz can also be an expression of resistance.
