Als Hitler das rosa Kaninchen stahl
In the organizer's words:
Berlin, 1933: Anna is only nine years old when her life changes completely. To escape the Nazis, her father is forced to flee to Zurich; his family follows him shortly thereafter. Anna leaves everything behind, including her beloved pink stuffed rabbit, and must face a new life full of challenges and hardships in a foreign land. A film adaptation of the children’s book of the same name by Judith Kerr.
The Langendreer neighborhood association “Langendreer hat’s” is once again screening a film this year as part of its“Against Forgetting” series that addresses the consequences of fascism, exclusion, and persecution. This year’s screening is *When Hitler Stole the Pink Rabbit*. The film tells the story of a Jewish family forced to flee the Nazis and powerfully conveys the effects of exclusion, persecution, and dictatorship, particularly to teenagers and young adults. Engaging with history is intended to help strengthen democratic values and prevent such developments from recurring—a goal that is more relevant than ever given the growing influence of far-right extremist movements.
Admission is free, made possible by funding from the Werne/Langendreer Alter Bahnhof Neighborhood Fund.
