Sometimes memories are not a paradise, but a curse that is almost impossible to banish. Caro Matzko's father fled East Prussia when he was ten years old. He lost his home, his childhood and experienced things that no one ever forgets. Eighty years later, his daughter travels back along his escape route in search of answers. She wants to understand why her father's psychological injuries were able to reproduce in her own life. What is the origin of her anorexia, her battles with depression and burnout? How are traumas passed on from one generation to the next?

With unsparing honesty and unflinching humor, the well-known journalist and presenter tells of a painful journey that demanded everything of her. Caro Matzko was born in Ulm in 1979. She studied communication science, politics and sociology and is an author, journalist, key note speaker and presenter at panel discussions as well as on radio and TV. She works for bayern2, ARD and ARTE and is co-host of the BR cult TV program "Ringlstetter". She lives in Munich with her family.
