In his first solo exhibition anzuglich, Erold
Sommer takes a multi-layered look at the question of external forms, projections and the attribution of meaning to items of clothing. The artist steps back behind his pictures and lets them speak for themselves, never detached from his own
reference:
Which suit suits you best, which suits you will grow into and which suits never or what a suit conceals or reveals are questions of approach.
anzuglich is the ambiguous approach of a narrative, a dynamic relationship between the wearer and the clothing, the artist and the viewer, which cannot be resolved as an interaction. Erold Sommer completed his Master's degree in Business Administration at the University of Economics and Law in 2022. The self-taught artist from Rhineland-Palatinate
autodidact knows the interplay between outer shells and inner expectations. He translates his own questions about personal and social roles into large-format paintings with acrylic and gouache, textile installations and oil pastel drawings.
