Archetypen

In the organizer's words:

Art exhibition by Ludwig Steiger:

Ludwig Steiger is interested in witnesses of past cultures: amphorae and other vessels, sculptures and the ruins of ancient temples. As an architect and artist, he tried to approach and understand them by drawing and painting.

He was fascinated by the fossil remains of ancient monumental buildings, which even in decay still radiate purity and strength, in their structure, detail and materiality, in which the aging process manifests itself as a magnificent play of colors in the stones. What particularly impressed him about the vessels was that, despite being limited to a few basic shapes, they allow for an incredible amount of variation in terms of proportion, texture and color. His artistic preoccupation with them has inspired him to create many variations of his own.

Once again, he realized the importance of archetypes for the evolution of art and architecture. The exhibition shows a selection of these works on canvas and paper.

The vernissage on Thursday, February 12 at 7.30 pm offers the opportunity to meet the artist in person and talk to him. You are very welcome!
