In the organizer's words:
Together with the Filmgalerie Phase IV, the ZfBK is showing the film "Robin Hood Gardens" by Adrian Dorschner & Thomas Beyer from the year 2022 in the "Architecture in Film" series.
The documentary by the 'Bowling-Treff' team Dorschner/Beyer is once again a journey through time: It explores the history of a housing estate owned by Alison and Peter Smithson in east London. In 1972, it was intended to counter the exhausted post-war modernism with more humane and spacious living. At the time, it was called New Brutalism, from brut = raw. Large parts were demolished in 2017. The film tells the story of 40 years of new beginnings and contradictions, social aspirations and hotspots, communities and urban politics.
