Arfi - Isländische Folktronica

In the organizer's words:

arfi is experimental and atmospheric and moves between electronic and organic pop - introspective music for a time that is changing ever faster.

The music of arfi moves between electronic sounds, organic textures and intimate pop moments. Much is created intuitively - from improvisations, spontaneous ideas and a shared sense of atmosphere. This results in songs that are simultaneously vulnerable, warm, melancholic and hopeful. Their debut album Spring Underwater will be released in May 2026. The six songs were written during their stay in Iceland in January 2025. During the recording process, the band collaborated with Icelandic artists such as Sóley and RAKEL, whose influence also shaped the mood of the album.

In terms of content, arfi's songs deal with the tension between permanent digital connection and the search for real closeness, meaning and connection. Their music tells of the beauty and excessive demands of our present - of a life between technology, nature and human emotions.

arfi was formed in August 2023, when Katrín Helga Ólafsdóttir (aka K.óla), Stefan Vidal-Schneider and Tobias Link (aka EAT THE FROG Kollektiv) met at Impro Camp 6 in Fredericia, Denmark. Although they come from different musical backgrounds, they immediately bonded over their shared enthusiasm for improvisation, catchy melodies and emotional soundscapes. This first encounter gradually developed into a close artistic collaboration and friendship.
