Art:walk Festival - Haus der Parlamentsgeschichte

In the organizer's words:

Art:walk Festival 2026: The House of Parliamentary History is taking part in the Museum Night on June 13.

Program item 1: Short Cuts. Once parliamentary history and back

Individual exhibition visits are possible at the House of Parliamentary History in Villa Horion from 4 pm to midnight. Our experienced guides are always available to talk to you and answer your questions.

The exhibition shows the political beginnings of our federal state, central phases of democratic development as well as formative people, events and decisions that have shaped the parliamentary system in NRW. The guides invite visitors to take a closer look at individual aspects of the exhibition, make connections to the present and discuss different perspectives on democracy and parliamentary processes.

There will be a guided tour with a deaf sign language interpreter and a hearing sign language interpreter at 5 pm and 7 pm. These tours are aimed at anyone who would like to experience the exhibition in an accessible way.

Program item 2: From score to pop culture

The vocal ensemble of the Robert Schumann University presents a sonorous journey through time: songs by Robert Schumann meet fresh pop arrangements. At two mini-concerts, you can let the voices take you back to the history of North Rhine-Westphalia and take a break from the numerous Art:Walk Festival offerings with a cool drink in the garden of Villa Horion.

Program point 3: Rhyme on the Rhine

Experience a unique poetry slam in the House of Parliamentary History. Reim am Rhein brings a breath of fresh air to Villa Horion. Three poetry slammers from different regions of North Rhine-Westphalia will compete against each other and let words, thoughts and perspectives clash.

The audience's applause alone will decide who wins in the end: will it be Ayşe Irem from East Westphalia, the third woman and first Muslim to win the international German-language slam championship in 2025? Or Luise Wolff, who has been a poetry slam artist dealing with realism, life, love and queerness since 2017? She became NRW Poetry Slam Champion in 2025. Finally, Lukas Knoben, who travels all over NRW as a poetry slammer and writes performance poetry, could also be considered. His topics: Everything that surrounds him.
