Auf der Zinne^ – neuer Klang: ESSENZ RUTH ZECHLIN RELOADED
In the organizer's words:
World premiere
"Mensch, werde wesentlich" is a message from the rediscovered Silesius chants by composer Ruth Zechlin (1926-2007). Combined with a commissioned work by Julia Waldeck (*2000), the Silesius chants will be performed posthumously as a world premiere on the 100th birthday of the pioneering sound creator.
The ensemble also performs early songs and 3 Nachtstücke for Claudia von Zechlin as well as "Ich glaube nicht an den Tod" (2025) by composer Oxana Omelchuk, born in Belarus in 1975, with soprano, flute and organ. In their free improvisations, the musicians musically represent the Altonale motto "Before everyone's eyes" and create a sounding "essence" from the life and works of Zechlin and the contemporary composers.
Performers: Irene Kurka (soprano), Lucie Benediktová (flute), Julia Waldeck (composer), Kerstin Petersen (organ and conductor), Ellen Freyberg (dramaturge).
