Auf die Plätze! Kunst, Theater, Musik & Tanz OPEN AIR in der HafenCity

In the organizer's words:

Auf die Plätze turns eastern HafenCity into an open cultural space for a day, focusing on art, movement and community. The four squares will become lively meeting places where people can come together, try out new things and experience the city from a different perspective. Visitors are invited not only to walk through the squares, but to actively experience them - as unique urban planning locations whose design and atmosphere bear the signature of the women after whom they are named.

A varied program unfolds throughout the day, inviting visitors to join in, watch and try things out. On Liselotte-von-Rantzau-Platz, the Shanty-Mitsingchor creates a maritime atmosphere and invites everyone to sing traditional sea shanties together. Those who would rather become part of a spontaneous ensemble can join in with the "one-time choir" - a low-threshold format that shows how quickly strangers can become a collective sound.

Movement enthusiasts will get their money's worth at three workshops on Lola-Rogge-Platz : the breakdance workshop brings urban energy to the square and is aimed at anyone who enjoys acrobatic moves and rhythmic power. The modern ballet workshop, on the other hand, focuses on flowing movements, expression and body awareness.

The visual arts also have a firm place in the program. An open painting station on Gretchen-Wohlwill-Platz invites young and old to get spontaneously creative and turn the square itself into a source of inspiration. This will be complemented by a guided workshop. Here, participants can try out techniques, learn about backgrounds and create their own small works of art.

The improv theater workshop on Gerda-Gmelin-Platz offers a stage for all those who enjoy spontaneous acting. Without text, without guidelines, but with a lot of imagination, small scenes are created that show how lively and surprising theater in public spaces can be.
