Auf Klangsuche im Stadtteil - Ein kreativer Audio-Workshop für Kinder und Jugendliche ab 12 Jahren

Every place has its own sound. But which sounds do we consciously perceive in everyday life? Which sounds surprise us, tell stories or allow us to experience our surroundings with new ears?

In this creative audio workshop, participants go on a sound quest through Bramfeld. Together they will discover how sounds influence our perception of places and how our own surroundings can be experienced in a new way through conscious listening.

After a brief introduction to sound, field recording and the use of audio recorders, the participants collect noises, atmospheres and special sounds from their surroundings. They will playfully learn how sound recordings are made, what is important when consciously listening and how to capture interesting sound moments.

Afterwards, we listen to the collected recordings together and discuss them: Which sounds were particularly surprising, beautiful, irritating or remarkable? The recorded material will be used to create a joint audio collage that creatively combines different auditory impressions of the district.

The workshop teaches the basics of audio technology, encourages creative listening and invites you to get to know Bramfeld from a new perspective. No previous knowledge is required.

Target group: Children and young people aged 12 and over

Important note: As part of the workshop, there will be a joint sound walk in the Bramfeld district. Underage participants require the consent of their legal guardians for this. Supervision by the workshop leader is only for the duration of the workshop. Parents/guardians are responsible for the outward and return journey. A consent form will be sent by email after successful registration.

About Matthias Schubert

Matthias Schubert is a composer, sound designer and music producer with a focus on theater, electronic music and sound art. Since 2014, he has worked for theaters such as the Munich Volkstheater, the Meiningen and Nuremberg State Theaters and the Schauspiel Frankfurt. In Hamburg, he is co-founder of "Remoto Records", a record store and event collective that has been contributing to electronic club culture with events and workshops since 2021. He studied digital media with a focus on sound at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and time-based media at HAW Hamburg. His work combines audio and music production, field recording, soundscape research, musique concrète and electronic sound synthesis.
