Ausflug - Wanderung zum Kloster Andechs

Meeting place:S-Bahn platform at Munich Central Station

Meeting time: 9:30 a.m.

You’ll need: A ticket for the trip (e.g., Deutschlandticket or round-trip ticket)

The hike from the Herrsching S-Bahn station to Andechs Monastery is a popularroute, about 5 kilometers long (walking time approx. 1 to 1.5 hours). The trail mostly follows a gentle, well-marked ascent through the Kiental valley and the forest, ending with a short flight of stairs up to the “Holy Mountain.”

Here are the exact steps for the easiest and most scenic route (the Kiental Trail):

Starting point: LeaveHerrsching Station (the S8’s terminus), follow Bahnhofstraße toward the southeast, and then turn onto Andechsstraße.

The trail:Turn onto Kientalstraße; this will lead you into the shady Kiental valley. Follow the Kienbach stream steadily uphill.

The final stretch:At Erling/Andechs, the trail leaves the forest. Follow the signs and climb the last short flight of stairs to reach the monastery courtyard.

You can buy food and drinks at Andechs Monastery. If the weather is nice, we’ll sit in the beer garden.

Important tips for your hike:
Clothing: Sturdy shoes are recommended, even though there are no technical climbing requirements.
Navigation: The trail is well-marked.

Alternative: In case ofbad weather or if you’re tired, we can take bus 951, which runs directly from the Herrsching train station to the monastery (travel time approx. 10 minutes).
