Exhibition "Iroko, my source - Mis fuentes en Iroko"
Nelson Ramos Sandoval
Vernissage on Thursday, 23.04.2026 at 7 pm
Duration of the exhibition 24.04.2026 - 14.06.2026
Iroko, the tree of life, symbolizes the connection between heaven and earth, wisdom and protection.
The large-format oil paintings by artist Nelson Ramos Sandoval take up the motif of the "fuente" ("source") and invite an intensive examination of origin, identity and belonging, both on a personal and collective level.
In the colorful, vibrant works shown in the exhibition, Sandoval captures the spiritual richness of Afro-Cuban heritage. The works combine mythology and living tradition and take the viewer on a journey through timeless narratives.
At the same time, the artist's work deals with social and socio-cultural realities that arise from his biographical experience between cultures, migration and identity.
Nelson Ramos Sandoval, who lives in Eichenau near Munich and was born in Havana (Cuba), sees art as his vision and voice, as an expression beyond mere words.
Ramos Sandoval's works of art convey philosophical and spiritual questions, which are mixed with everyday observations on the canvas.
The result is paintings that are rich in detail and symbolism and radiate with intense expressionist colors. The artist is also active internationally in several artistic circles.
