AXS II: Die Quittung, Jenny & Kiki Bohemia

For the second time, the UT Connewitz in Leipzig is opening its doors for AXS! The concert series brings together people who have already been involved in an artistic or personal exchange and creates space for new encounters, shared experiences and genuine closeness. AXS is derived from Axis - the axis - and stands for the connection between all participating artists. The focus is on people who have already worked together, shared spaces, developed ideas or inspired each other - both artistically and personally.
Many of the participating artists already know each other from joint projects, studio work or long-standing friendships. An important point of reference is the Haunted Haus Studio in Leipzig's Westwerk, where numerous musical connections have been made.

With Die Quittung, Josen Bach presents the release concert for the third album "Extrawelt", which will be released the day before. Die Quittung sings about and discusses the absurdities of our time: self-optimization disguised as self-realization, performance-oriented competition, switching off one's own brain and the palpable stagnation of the present. The songs revolve around doubt, community and the question of how the present can be told at all. Musically, Die Quittung moves somewhere between German-language pop, NDW, indie, punk and experimental sounds - sometimes as reduced piano songs, sometimes as driving band arrangements with synthesizers and drums.

Jenny is a dedicated band from the trade fair city of Leipzig. Here, too, there are direct connections to the idea of AXS: one of the band members is part of the Haunted Haus Studio, and the organizers of the series already have real points of contact with the band Jenny in other musical contexts.

Kiki Bohemia is a one-woman show from Berlin. She has been singing, composing and producing her own music since 2005. She already sang on the second album of Die Quittung and has also worked with Josen Bach on various musical projects for many years. At UT Connewitz, she will present a selected DJ set and connect the rooms between the concerts.
