"Bach & Beyond": Works by Johann Sebastian Bach and Francesco Tristano

Johann Sebastian Bach is a fixed point and a constant source of inspiration for Francesco Tristano. The Luxembourg pianist's career began around 20 years ago with the works of the Thomaskantor. For his project "Bach & Beyond", he uses three different approaches to engage with the baroque master: Original, transcription for piano and remix for piano & electronics. By using not only the piano, but also synthesizers and other electronic sounds, the pianist, composer and techno fan brings Bach's music directly into the present, into the here and now. And when it comes to the kinetic energy of the rhythms in Bach and techno, there is no doubt for the Spaniard-by-choice: "There would be no techno without Bach. He was the first remix artist."
