Good tidings to the power of three

Freshly sworn in as Leipzig's Thomaskantor, Johann Sebastian Bach was full of zest for action in 1723 and composed the "Magnificat", a cantata of praise for the Advent season, for his new choir. Shortly after the Annunciation by the angel Gabriel, Mary tells her cousin the good news of her pregnancy with the Savior. This message sounds particularly joyful when an outstanding early music ensemble, Vox Luminis, takes to the stage.
