The production deals with the astonishing story of Lisa Fittko and the "F-Route" across the Pyrenees named after her. Lisa Fittko, active in Varian Fry's Emergency Rescue Committee, helped numerous people cross the border to Spain, including Walter Benjamin. Based on her memoir Mein Weg über die Pyrenäen, published by Hanser Verlag in 1985, Martin Mühleis has created a dense musical-literary stage narrative for the actress Barbara Auer (Die Macht der Gefühle, Die innere Sicherheit) and the double bass player and National Jazz Prize winner Veit Hübner. Die F-Route oder Lisas Weg (The F-Route or Lisa's Way) is an initially factual report that gradually and necessarily develops into a thriller. Because only the fewest manage to resist and preserve their humanity.
