"BEAT IT! - The hit show about the King of Pop!" is a spectacular live show experience about the most successful entertainer of all time, whose music will remain unforgotten forever. The approximately two-hour tribute traces Michael Jackson's incomparable solo career in spectacular images and presents 20 of his greatest hits such as "Billie Jean", "Smooth Criminal", "Thriller", "Man In The Mirror", "Black Or White" and of course "Beat It" live.
"This is one of the best Michael Jackson shows I've ever seen," enthused Michael's brother Jermaine Jackson immediately after the world premiere on August 29, 2018 at the Theater am Potsdamer Platz in Berlin. The result was record-breaking tours in Germany, Austria and Switzerland from 2018 to 2020 with more than 250 performances, most of which were completely sold out, and a wave of boundless enthusiasm among audiences and the press before the tour unfortunately had to be ended prematurely in March 2020 due to coronavirus. Following its successful return to the stage after a six-year break in spring 2026 in 44 cities with 85,000 visitors, the myth will go on tour again in 2027 in a grandiose new version with a new cast.

He achieved worldwide fame as a child, as a member of the legendary "Jackson 5" - his final breakthrough came with the release of the best-selling album of all time: "Thriller". Even 16 years after his death, Michael Jackson, the "King of Pop", lives on in the hearts of his millions of fans for all eternity. And "BEAT IT! - The hit show about the King of Pop!" brings the exceptional artist back to life in a unique stage show. More than 250,000 enthusiastic spectators, completely sold-out concert halls and an accolade from his brother cannot lie: Musical producer Oliver Forster's hit show gave goosebumps night after night, and not just to die-hard Michael Jackson fans. "BEAT IT!" is a perfectly choreographed stage spectacle with outstanding dancers, virtuoso musicians and a leading actor who is so close to the original that the audience is regularly left breathless. The spark is ignited from the very first note. With "BEAT IT!", no one can stay in their seats. The urge to move is too great as soon as leading man Garth Field slips on his silver glitter glove, adjusts his hat and performs the moonwalk in typical Michael Jackson style. It almost seems as if the "King of Pop", who died in 2009, has been resurrected and returned to the stage for one more evening.

Leading actor Garth Field: a life for art
The South African was born in Cape Town in 1993. His artistic career began modestly as a member of the primary school choir. However, in his teenage years, his commitment increased and he became acquainted with many facets of the performing arts during his training. He attended the Stage Performing Arts School and Theatre, where he received a certificate in performing arts in his second year and studied jazz, step and modern dance. He received further certificates in all three disciplines from the prestigious Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing in London. In 2008, he expanded his repertoire and studied hip hop styles with Kumari Singh at the Temple of Hip Hop. In 2012 he achieved an NQF Level 5 in Performing Arts at New Africa Theatre.
Garth's career took a decisive turn in 2015 when he landed his first international contract as a choreographer and dancer in the Spanish production "This Is It - A Tribute to Michael Jackson". He blossomed in this role - which led to him being offered the lead role of "Michael Jackson" the following year. He eventually became production manager and has spent six months with the show in Spain every year since.
In 2023, his tribute work came to the attention of renowned tribute producer Johnny Van Grinsven. He recast his long-running production "The Michael Jackson HIStory Show" and found in Garth the perfect blend of talent, youthful energy and drive.
He gave him the biggest role of his life, again as Michael Jackson, but this time in one of the biggest international tribute shows in the industry.
"Garth has that rare combination of singing ability, dancing talent, the perfect look and above all the drive and ambition to live up to this role and always work to be the best in the business, just like his idol once was. I'm therefore very proud that we were able to get him to play the lead role of Michael in the new edition of "BEAT IT!", says Oliver Forster, the show's producer.

Those responsible for "BEAT IT!" received the "accolade" from Michael Jackson's brother in 2018. "This is one of the best Michael Jackson shows I've ever seen," enthused Jermaine Jackson on stage immediately after the world premiere in Berlin on August 29, 2018, the day Michael Jackson would have celebrated his 60th birthday, and was visibly moved to tears. He congratulated the makers and the entire ensemble on this brilliant achievement.
The day before the celebrated premiere, the ensemble had already achieved a memorable triumph:
Together with the well-known dancer and choreographer Detlef Soost, it set a world record - the largest Michael Jackson choreography dance lesson to date, featuring 261 dancers! For Soost, who has been on TV for over 30 years as a judge, choreographer, presenter and fitness expert, being part of the show's creative team was a matter close to his heart: "I became a Michael Jackson fan at the age of twelve and it was through him that I got into dancing and my career. To now be part of the artistic team that brings his legacy to the stage is more than an honor for me!"
