Israel is at war. The terrorist attack by the radical Islamic group Hamas is the greatest catastrophe for Israel in recent decades and the tragic climax of the long-running conflict. The war has also suddenly changed the way Israel is viewed. Whereas a short time ago the focus was still on the planned judicial reform of the right-wing conservative and in parts right-wing extremist government, and with it the question of whether Israel would remain a democratic state, attention has shifted between the poles of unconditional and unrestricted solidarity for Israel and a critical analysis of the further course of the war and its consequences for Palestinian civilians.
In his new book Bedrohtes Israel, former Israeli ambassador Avi Primor talks about the war waged by Israel and Hamas, and about what the future of his homeland might look like. Will there ever be peace in the Middle East? Moderated by Sonia Mikich
