The French star author as a guest at the Heinrich Heine Institute
The French author Colombe Schneck is a literary star in France. Her "Paris Trilogy", in which she describes life in the left-liberal Jewish bourgeoisie, was her international breakthrough. Her Paris Trilogy is an outstanding account of the major themes in a woman's life - body, sexuality, class, origin, friendship, love and death.
In her latest book, "Lies in Paradise", Schneck embarks on an autobiographical journey back in time to a childhood in which Swiss mountain idyll meets black pedagogy. In her autofictional novel, the author writes movingly about pain, healing and family. This book is both a journey and research, it tells how memory bubbles burst and yet retain a golden glow.
Colombe Schneck, born in Paris in 1966, studied politics at one of the most prestigious universities in Paris and works as a journalist. Colombe Schneck is obsessed with the truth and has written extensively about the secrets of her upper middle-class Jewish family history; her books have won several awards in France.
