Berivan Kaya

Berivan Kaya is a Cologne-based musician and songwriter whose Anatolian indie sound combines traditional Turkish folk and art music with arabesque, minimalist guitars, soft electronic beats and synthwave. Her music moves between intimacy and collectivity and invites you to experience emotions together.

Berivan Kaya first attracted national attention with her debut single Megaloman. Her songs are characterized by melancholy, warmth and a deep emotional presence and are carried by a voice that creates closeness and tells stories.

At the We Won't Shut Up! festival, she will present her own compositions as well as songs by women* who have influenced her artistically. These are voices that have rarely been seen or heard in German-speaking countries. Her performance is intended as a musical tribute to these artists and as an invitation to make marginalized perspectives tangible through music.
