Bernd Begemann, for anyone and everyone with taste the biggest, best and grooviest (German) singer and songwriter. He invented the Hamburg School on the side, is a legendarily good dancer and a top stylist in general. On 01.11.22 he celebrates his 60th birthday and not in a restaurant or at home but in his natural habitat: On the stage of the wonderful Knust, together with his brilliant band Die Befreiung. THE LIBERATION

Sometime in 2003 Bernd started looking for a new band. The new band should not be the 4th edition of the "Ant wort", but something completely new. Accordingly, a new name was needed. After a lot of back and forth, the line-up and the new name were ready in March 2004: "Bernd Bege mann & die Befreiung".

Since then the four musicians have merged into a real band. From the beginning, Achim Erz (drums), Ben Scha dow (bass) and Kai Doh ren kamp (key board) have been more than just an accompanying combo: at every performance, they liberate Bernd's songs anew.

While Bernd's solo concerts are legendary for their stories and tales, in which the singer and guitarist always knits himself anew until you almost forget that you are actually in the middle of a song, the performances with the band are real rock concerts: You can dance!

ACHIM ERZ

And when the world sinks into two! There's no doubt about it: Achim Erz is Hamburg's most famous percussionist. He plays concerts until he is completely exhausted to the brink of insanity. No one could keep this unruly horde called Liberation together better than he could: Achim the violent, Achim the subtle, Achim the loud and Achim the quiet. Achim, the heart of liberation.

BEN SHADOW

Ben! Ben! Ben! You can be sure that this lovely full battle cry will resound when he starts to dance, gives himself up to the lovingly won building chat with Bernd and pretends that it doesn't concern him at all. Silent waters are deep. Ben goes deeper. He taught the band 60 Years of Mod Power Pop, and he is the first person the band looks at when it doesn't go on. Ben knows advice. He says more than dew words. Ben Shadow. The soul of liberation.

KAI DORENKAMP

Every man needs a friend. Every finder needs a sound. Every band needs a Kai. But only liberation has him: Kai Doren kamp. And he has it: The answer to every question at every moment. Musically and in versatility. Kai is the very first person in the world who succeeded in taking Bernd's show from mono log to dia log. Kai, the key boar der, the memory and conscience of liberation.
