BESSERE WÄLDER

If despair were a color, it would be as white as snow.

A family of wolves fights its way through the snow. As they flee, the parents tell them about the "Better Forests", where prey is said to be plentiful and no one need fear the hunters! The little wolf soon has to fend for himself and collapses in the cold. He is found by a pair of sheep who are unable to have children of their own. They take care of the wolf cub, name him Ferdinand and bring him up full of love in the idyllic sheep community.
The new parents keep their secret, and no one thinks that Ferdinand might not be a sheep. Not his best friend Beck, not his first girlfriend Melanie and certainly not himself: he jumps over fences - and sheep don't do that! -but no one sings "Schafe Maria" as devoutly as he does. Ferdinand is the hero of the flock!
Melanie, meanwhile, wants to get out of the dull sheep community. She dreams of her own wool production and the big wide world. She persuades Ferdinand to take a trip to the other side of the protective fence, where things are supposed to be excitingly dangerous and definitely different. But the trip goes wrong: once over the fence, the two encounter a she-wolf. And when a murder finally occurs in the flock, Ferdinand's perfect sheep world threatens to fall apart, because everyone is sure that only a wolf could have done it.
