Governess at 16, celebrated poet at 25, Austria's first female journalist after 1848: Betty Paoli (1814-1894) led a life full of upheavals, passion and literary success. She moved between Viennese salons and political upheavals, was friends with Franz Grillparzer, Adalbert Stifter and Marie von Ebner-Eschenbach and met her early role model Heinrich Heine in exile in Paris. She was admired - and feared - for her sharp mind and dry humor.

Karin S. Wozonig, author of the biography "Betty Paoli. Poet and Journalist", presents the life and work of this self-confident poet, clear-sighted critic and journalistic pioneer.

Poems and prose texts from the selection "Ich bin nicht von der Zeitlichkeit" will be read by Jasmin-Nevin Varul.
