For the grand finale of Betty's first jazz season, everything that has rank, name and, above all, groove is brought out once again: Sound & Complete meet Alison Degbe - and together they deliver exactly the kind of musical finale that makes you wonder why you ever heard anything else.
When Alison Degbe takes to the stage, it quickly becomes clear: this is not about impressing loudly, but about genuinely touching. The Kölner Stadtanzeiger sums it up: "This woman sings jazz the way it should be sung: warm, soft, deep and true." With relaxed, jazzy numbers such as "Thrill Has Gone Away", she provides exactly the right sound for the last sun of the day - or the last round at the bar.

And then there's Sound & Complete - a band that moves elegantly between jazz, rock and "we just do what we feel like". Classics from George Gershwin to Miles Davis? Sure. But not too slick, please. Because every now and then Van Morrison or The Beatles sneak into the set - much to the possible horror of the imaginary "jazz police", who have no access here anyway. Instead, there are fresh arrangements, original compositions and, time and again, those moments when it just bangs - in style, of course.

Together, Alison Degbe and Sound & Complete create a musical symbiosis that lies somewhere between goosebumps and foot tapping. A final concert that not only rounds off the season, but also sends it off with a broad, satisfied grin.
And don't worry: after the finale is before the season opener. We're already looking forward to October, when Betty's Jazz enters its second round - with new evenings, new sounds and, once again, just the right amount of musical magic.
